Meet NSW Outback Character, Bill Elliott

One of the charms of staying at our beautiful NSW outback camping ground and cabin park, Warrawong on the Darling in Wilcannia, are the regular gatherings of guests around the campfire at sundown when music, stories and canapes are shared as well as our own hearty campfire dinners on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights.

Also a regular feature around our campfire is local character, Bill Elliott, who was born in Wilcannia, runs the local tourism board and often tells our guests stories about the town’s colourful history and culture in Outback NSW.

“Warrawong on the Darling is a top set up and a major part of Wilcannia’s appeal as a visitor destination,” says Bill. “I always enjoy sitting down with guests around the campfire there, sharing information and tales about Wilcannia’s heyday as Australia’s third largest inland port during the great river boat era of the mid-19th century.”
