See the Flying Doctors in Action

A fascinating attraction in Broken Hill is the Royal Flying Doctor Outback Heritage Experience at Broken Hill Airport. Go behind the scenes of a working Flying Doctor base, which covers a massive 640,000 square kilometres of outback NSW. Visit the planes in the hangar and the operations centre which directs heroic doctors, nurses and pilots to remote Australians in need of urgent medical care. Discover stories from the service’s past in the interactive museum and watch a short film in the theatre. The recent TV drama, RFDS, was filmed at the Broken Hill base, with the 2023 series also to be filmed there. See the amazing flying doctors in action yourself. Your visit will also support an important service. The centre is open daily.
